Not so much to ‘get off the beaten track’ as to get away from pavements and roads made of concrete and asphalt, to follow real beaten tracks that have linked remote communities for centuries. Then maybe, with the help of our guides, to go a bit a bit higher, a bit further, a bit deeper into a landscape that has inspired so much of Tibetan culture.
You will be walking on trails, spending the night in guesthouses or under canvas. You might even have horses and porters to help you when it is necessary. All that is necessary is some basic fitness and a spirit of adventure. The areas around Mount Yala (5820m) and Mount Minya Konka/Gongga Shan (7556m) are prime trekking territory, but our guides are familiar with other routes too.
