STUDENT TRIPS AND EXPEDITIONS

From one or two day or nature exploration and outdoor activity trips around Chengdu to multi-day trekking and camping expeditions on the Tibetan Plateau. Expeditions may visit the Dragon Expeditions’ bespoke Yunhe Center for Nature Education and Outdoor Activities in the Tibetan Village of Zhonglu.
Since 2003 we have been facilitating scientists and students from China and abroad to visit Chengdu and the Tibetan plateau; and since 2010 we have been working with five British secondary schools on community development projects.

1 or 2-day trips around Chengdu

We offer a range of customized nature education and outdoor activities trips in around Chengdu. For different age ranges.

For primary school students, (6-12) years old

-Learning about nature (with focus on water). Riverside hiking, nature observation and water and wetland studies.
-Learning about food and farming: farm visits, gathering wild foods, cooking.
-Outdoor skills: Camping, caving, rock climbing canoeing.

Example: Visit to Chengdu Wetland Park.

For secondary school students, (13-18) years old

-Learning about nature (with focus on water) Riverside hiking, nature observation and water and wetland studies. E.g. Chengdu river hike.
-Learning about food and farming: farm visits, gathering wild foods, cooking.
-Outdoor skills: Camping, caving, rock climbing canoeing.
-Community projects

Example: Black Dragon Pool Dam, ecosystem studies and kayaking.

For university students

Community projects, rock climbing, caving, scientific research.

 

Student Expeditions to the western Sichuan (Kham)

These expeditions take students up onto the Tibetan Plateau and deep into the ancient Tibetan kingdom of Kham. Expeditions may visit Dragon Expeditions’ bespoke Yunhe Center for Nature Education and Outdoor Activities in the Tibetan Village of Zhonglu.

For primary school students, (6-12) years old

-Learning about nature
-Learning about food and farming: farm visits, gathering wild foods, cooking.
– Learning about culture – Tibetan crafts, food art and music.

-Outdoor skills: Camping, caving, rock climbing canoeing. Outdoor survival skills.

For secondary school students, (13-18) years old

-Learning about nature: Nature observation and water and wetland studies.
-Learning about food and farming: farm visits, gathering wild foods, cooking.
– Learning about culture – Tibetan crafts, food art and music.
-Outdoor skills: Camping, caving, rock climbing canoeing. Wilderness survival skills.

-Trekking.

-For 15-18 year olds climbing two peaks on Mt. Siguniangshan.

A wealth of experience

 Founded in 2003 Dragon Expeditions long experience of working with students, scientists and organizations from China and abroad in activities including community projects, mountain climbing, trekking, scientific research, cycling and even earthquake rescue.

This includes:

2003: Facilitated a research trip for university students from America to Wolong Giant Panda Conservation Centre.

2004: Facilitated a one-month research expedition in Longmen Geological Park for geologists from China Academy of Science and Oxford University.

2005: Took European researchers to western of Sichuan to study medicinal plants.

2006: Organized trekking of Yala Mountain for Gap Year students Switzerland.

2007: Organized one-month climbing expedition to Mt. Siguniang for a Korean team.

2008: In the aftermath of the great 2008 earthquake, Dragon Expeditions were invited by the Alpine Rescue team to assist with rescues.

Since 2010: Collaboration with Outlook Expeditions on educational expeditions organized for  five British secondary schools
