The Mt. Bumoshi (Ch. Siguniang) area is a stunning 4 peak mountain range; the highest peak (6250 m) is also the highest  in northwest Sichuan. Bumoshi literally means Four Maidens, local Tibetan legend that says the four peaks are the embodiments of four beautiful women. It is also well known in English as Four Sisters Mountain.
On this tour you will be able to summit both the first and second peaks of Mt. Bumoshi, (Dafeng (5025m) and Erfeng (5276m).  This requires very limited technical mountaineering experience. All you need is to be physically fit and to pay attention to the training you will be given by our guides. As well as conquering these two peaks you will experience the local Tibetan culture, trek along 3 of the stunning valleys in the Mt. Bumoshi area.
A full day’s drive is required to reach the Tibetan town of Zhilung (Ch. Rilong) where you will be based. To help people acclimatize to the high altitude of the region, you will spend a day walking along the picturesque Changping Valley. The climbs will take a total of 4 days, a long hike up to Dafeng base camp where you will stay in a basic mountain hut overnight, and then a very early morning the following day for the hike up the slopes of Dafeng, to summit mid morning and return to base camp. The third climbing day is recuperation, with only a short walk to Erfeng base camp for some basic training and a very good rest. The final climbing day is another tough day with very early day and a long steep trek up Erfeng, with the final 400m or so requiring ropes. After summiting the mountain, you will return to the base camp for food, then continue back to Zhilung. The final day in Zhilung is a visit to the Shuangqiao Valley by local bus, before travelling back to Chengdu the next day.

DAY 2 :  CHENGDU TO ZHILUNG( Ch.RILONG)  BY ROAD

This day’s journey will take you up onto the Tibetan Plateau and deep into the ancient Tibetan Kingdom of Kham.  An early start at 8:00 am start is required as Zhilung is over 250km from Chengdu. After an hour or so there will be a brief stop at the town of Yenzhing (Chinese: Yingxiu) which was devastated by an 8.0 Richter scale earthquake in 2008. From Yenzhing onwards you will be travelling steadily upwards for the next 100km, heading for the Balang la (Ch. Balang Shan) pass at 4,520m. Roughly halfway to Zhilung, you will stop for lunch at Wolong (Mandarin for sleeping dragon) before continuing the climb to the Balang pass. The Wolong Valley is one of the prime Giant Panda habitats in China. As you travel deeper into the Mountains of Kham, the scenery becomes more impressive, the steep sided green hills are dotted with picturesque Tibetan villages.

After a final 40km of hairpin bends the tour will reach the Balang pass, here it is possible to get your first view of Bumoshi (Four Sisters) Mountain. From this lofty vantage point its main peak looks like a colossal snow-capped chisel driven upwards through the earth’s surface.  From the pass the road sweeps down to Tibetan town of Zhilung (Ch. Rilong), you will eat and stay at a traditional Tibetan guesthouse.

Bumoshi, Mt. Pomiu & Mt. Luotuofeng (Camel peak) and visit the Tibetan temple, Lamasi. For Lunch you will eat a local noodle dish (Mian Kui). The further we hike up the mountain, the wilder the landscape becomes. As we arrive at the base camp (4350m), the stupendous rock escarpment of Mt. Bumoshi will gradually emerge. The summit should be reached at approximately 10:00am. After summiting, you will descend back down to basecamp, eat a quick lunch before collecting your remaining equipment and hiking back to the Zhilung guesthouse. It will be a long walk back to the guest house. If you have run out of energy, you can choose to ride a horse back to Zhilung (at your own expense).
